Many people came to the event as individuals, but a larger amount came in groups to show their support and raise funds for childhood cancer research. Some of the groups included CU fraternities, the Air Force ROTC, employees of Celestial Seasonings, The Foundry, Whole Foods, and members of the Boulder Fire Department.
The St. Baldrick's Foundation is a non-profit group who focuses their funding specifically on the research of childhood cancer. Considering that only three percent of funding goes to children's cancer, the need for money is apparent.
The St. Baldrick's Foundation is known internationally and will be holding events in Colorado through the rest of March and most of April. If you are interested, visit their website at stbaldricks.org and register as either a shavee (someone who has their head shaved) or a shaver (someone who shaves heads).
If you're not balding, all of your hair will likely grow back so losing it for a bit shouldn't be an issue.
NewsTeam's reporter joined the shavees -- watch the video for proof.
