St. Patrick's Day is one of the most celebrated holidays here in America. But how much does anyone know about why they wear green and search for a pot of gold?

Here in Boulder, CU History Professor Scott Miller knew a great deal about St. Patrick. "St. Patrick was a sixth century Englishman who was captured by irish pirates and ransomed by his wealthy family," he said.

Meanwhile students interviewed knew March 17 as the day of car bombs, Jameson Irish Whiskey, and green beer. While some knew what Leprechauns are all about, others just made a connection to Lucky Charms cereal.

The historical factor doesn't grab the heart of students, but it appears as if everyone will be celebrating this green holiday to the fullest.

Remember to wear green so you don't get pinched! And for more information about the history of St. Patrick view the video below.

Happy St. Patrick's Day.
